2015 Promotion Planning for Salons & Spas

shutterstock_238225984Word of mouth is great, but we all have to blow our own trumpets and 2015 will be no different. It’s quite incredible but 2014 is nearly at an end and while we all make comments like “where did it go” and “how did that happen so fast”, the best prepared salons and spas are deep into their 2015 planning.

Here at Mutu HQ, in the wilds of Cheshire, we think it’s our job to help. So, next week we’ll be publishing a special promotion calendar that you can download and print that will give you all the important 2015 dates to plan around. Then, over the course of the next few weeks and months, we’ll be taking you through different promotional ideas, tricks and tips to keep you clients engaged and to motivate those lazy ones that never buy any retail!

What will you need? Well, you need a way to shout from the hilltops. So you’ll need to use Mutu’s promotional messages for your phone system. Get in touch – we can help with your Mutu Salon Call Manager and even provide voice over recordings for your promotions – it’s a really professional and soft way to tell your clients what you’re doing. They love them and don’t find them intrusive at all.

You’ll also need to be communicating via social media, email and your website. If you didn’t know, Mutu can help with all of that too, so if you’re not communicating with your clients enough right now, get in touch and we’ll help. We’re the salon communication experts, after all. And really importantly, you need to be tracking all your promotions through your Point-Of-Sale computer system. If you don’t have one or you’re not happy with your existing system, our independent reception health check will help you decide the best route to take.

So, there’s plenty to do and lots of fun to be had in the process. First up next week we’ll start by looking at January – it can be a slow month but we’ll have some amazing ideas here on the Mutu blog next week. See you then!

Runway Styles for Christmas!

As we prepare for Christmas and get ready for the numerous parties, social functions, and family gatherings that we may have scheduled, there’s no better time to change up your look and embrace some of the fabulous hairstyles on trend for the 2014/2015 season.

While many of the runway shows displayed a barely there, more natural look when it came to their makeup styles, they had fun and were more playful when it came to styling inspirations for the hair.

Cornrows, Messy French Braids, and Plaits

Marchesa, DKNY, Alexander McQueen, Dolce and Gabbana, Givenchy and Simone Rocha are just some of those who featured playful cornrows or plaited masterpieces:

Fresh Takes on the Classic Ponytail

If cornrows are a bit too bold and trendy for your tastes, maybe consider a more traditional but just as fierce updo- the ponytail. Chic fashion houses such as Chanel, Fendi, Valentino, and Herve Leger all featured the timeless creation in a new light:

The High Bun

One style trend that never seems to go completely out of style is the ballerina bun. Whether messy, perfect, or somewhere in between, it always seems to make its way somewhere on the map. This season, designers such as Carolina Herrera, John Paul Gaultier, Prada, Diane von Furstenberg, and Roberto Cavalli were just a few who showed us how to rock them:

Soft and Straight…Or Wavy

For those of us who prefer our hair down, there were no short of inspirations on the runway for us either. Designers like Stella McCartney, Gucci, Chloe, Hermes, Ohne Titel, and J.Mendel showed us how to let our hair down:

If your hair is too short to enjoy these creations, feel free to play around with extensions and clip-ons…or even dare to add a pop of color to give your style extra glam. There truly is something for everyone to put their best foot hair forward! Have fun!
